Should I include the leading zero?
No. A trunk zero only exists for dialling inside the country. Type it if that is how you have the number written down — it is stripped automatically — but it must never appear in the finished link.
Does the plus sign belong in the link?
No. +62 is how the number is written for people; a wa.me link takes digits only, so it starts with 62.
How many digits should a Indonesia number have?
9–12 after the +62 country code. A number that comes out shorter or longer than that is the single most common reason a click-to-chat link opens WhatsApp and then reports an invalid number.
